Weaknesses:
Magic for Giles can be physically taxing.
More-so without some sort focusing element.
Without the focus, the spell could backfire, hit the wrong target, be far to amplified and fry the target, or turn myself into a toad...although that has only happened twice.

He's a smart ass, quippy. He cant seem to keep his mouth shut in most instances. So that tends to get him into trouble. There, at times when he will withdraw, become quiet, all jokes cease, and his mind is made.
