Demonic Transformation: Mortalis’ body can transform to reveal his demonic nature in part or whole. Long obsidian horns, black scales, a spade-tipped tail, and leathery wings.
-
Devilish Charm: His demonic nature grants him an unnatural charm that draws attention and can enchant others. He feeds on the emotions of others and the ability to influence thoughts and emotions is simply par for the course, even if he has a natural aversion to the gaze of others.
-
Obsidian Domain: The source of his power as well as his corruption. Mortalis can draw upon the Obsidian Domain to create obsidian constructs. From razor-sharp blades to armor-like scales, Mortalis can form a variety of objects. The Obsidian he forms is unnatural and can infect or corrupt those affected by it.

-
Sanctified Weapons: His demonic nature renders him vulnerable to anything consecrated. Blessed weapons, divine light, and even holy water severely burn him and weaken or damage his obsidian constructs more easily.
-
Call of the Domain: Mortalis is steeped in the corruption of the Obsidian Domain. He can draw upon it to access great power, but if he overextends himself or becomes greatly wounded he may be pulled back into the Domain. While the Domain will renew his powers, it threatens to eat away at what remains of his humanity.

His more delicate appearance belies the threat he poses when he taps into his demonic powers. As he draws on his domain he begins taking on increasingly devilish features. Long spear-like horns twist out of his hair, a spade-tipped tail sprouts, and vast leathery wings. Sickly black veins spread just beneath his skin and his eyes become an inky black.
PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAITS
Merits: Perceptive, Loyal, Fearless
Flaws: Cold, Pessimistic, Reserved
Personality: Outwardly, Mortalis is the quiet brooding sort. When one is raised to live the life of an inquisitor, one learns to listen more than one speaks. Mortalis dislikes attention, preferring to manipulate situations from the shadows until he finds the perfect moment to strike. Bordering on paranoia, he is ever searching for the monster in others. That being said, once he trusts someone they are indispensable to him.
BACKGROUND

Backstory: For generations, the Delaunay family had functioned as inquisitors for the Church of Man. From an early age, Mortalis was raised to root out and eliminate immortals wherever he found them. Hunting beings with supernatural powers was a dangerous lifestyle, but he was good at what he did. Every week was another hunt, another immortal cleansed from the city.
He finally met his match when encountering a powerful demon matriarch, the Ivory Queen. She’d captured several such inquisitors and sealed them away within hellish dimensions known as The Domains. The strange unnatural power of the Domains seeped into each one of them, corrupting them and twisting them into fledgling demons in her service.
The Ivory Queen brainwashed and corrupted her new children, naming them the princes of her court. She twisted them into the very things they’d sworn to destroy and sought to unleash them on Andalvyn to bring ruin to the city. Little did she know, her plan had one grave flaw, the ember of humanity had not been entirely smothered within Mortalis. One by one, he slew his brothers and confronted his so-called ‘mother’. Try as he might, he could not slay the Ivory Queen, but rather sealed her away within her own Domain. Mortalis now stands guard over his family tower, ever vigilant lest the Ivory Queen finds a way to return to Andalvyn.
